New Hypertension Drug from Novartis Approved

Novartis AG has received approval from the FDA for Tekturna, the first new class of drug in more than a decade approved for treating high blood pressure. The drug acts by inhibiting renin, an enzyme secreted primarily by the kidneys that raises blood pressure. According to the company, it’s expected to be available later this month.
